How to utilize online training to get maximum benefits.
Now that we are 6 months (+) into the Covid-19 pandemic what are the resources online to maintain an exercise program:
First, you have to find a trainer. Look for someone close by where you live. Why? Because they are in your neighborhood and are more than likely able to give you the resource tips on where you can train outside if some of your activities are to be done outside.
Second, Does this person have credentials and most of all do they have experience! Experience and the ability to work with a wide variety of people can make the difference between a good trainer and an excellent trainer
Third, Does the person you have an interest in have experience with injuries or nutrition? Anyone who is an adult HAS something aching or causing some discomfort. Does this fitness professional have knowledge on how to manage them?. Plus, We all need to eat. Does your fitness professional have knowledge on nutrition? What are the best food choices to lose weight or gain weight make so that I can get the body that I want.
Fourth, What schedule is ideal to me so I can be my best. Too many times clients idealize that they all of a sudden want to be morning exercisers when they can't wake up in the morning! Don't do it! Pick a day(s) that you KNOW for a fact that you can honor and be consistent. You want to maintain a healthy lifestyle so schedule for it.
Since I started online training in March I used FaceTime maybe "twice" in as many years as I have had a cellphone. Maybe 15 (+) years!. Until recently, I never even heard of ZOOM. Now they are my everyday reality!
So how can you benefit from online classes?
- Make sure that your exercise space is free of objects. tables, chairs, coffee tables
- Have a mat , a few hand weights 9 3 - 15 lb. ), rubber band, exercise ball (65 - 75 cm )
- A 12" platform or a flight of stairs, or an Ottoman ,
- Optional: Treadmill, Rower, Bike
- These are the basic requirements to be able to get a full body workout.
I've trained people with less. BUT, the greater the variety of tools you have at your disposal the more dynamic your exercise program will be. The more likely you are to stick with it.
